As you consider any facial change or enhancement, the most important decision you will make is the choice of the physician performing your procedure. Thomas Romo III, MD, FACS is Double Board-Certified and one of the most respected Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons in the world.

Perhaps, even more important than his superior surgical and artistic skills, is his extensive experience.
As the Director of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at North Shore/LIJ Lenox Hill Hospital and the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, both in NYC, Dr. Thomas Romo III brings to the table a level of expertise that assures you that you’re in the best of hands.

Working exclusively on the face, nose, eyelids, brow, and neck, Dr. Romo III is recognized worldwide as a "super specialist." Because of this fact, a significant part of Dr. Romo's practice includes patients in need of corrective work — many of these patients are referred by other physicians.

As a well-known educator and researcher, Dr. Romo holds many of the highest surgical and academic credentials in his profession. Dr. Thomas Romo III is a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Subsequent to his graduation from the Otolaryngology Head-and-Neck Surgery program at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, Dr. Romo completed a one-year Facial Plastic Surgery fellowship. He then finished a second fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, sponsored by The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, at Tampa General Hospital.

In addition to holding several innovative medical patents and having been published in numerous medical journals, Dr. Romo has received a myriad of honors and awards. He has appeared on major national and local television talk shows and news programs.
Dr. Romo has also served as a guest lecturer at medical meetings throughout Eastern and Western Europe, South America, and the Middle East.

For the past 25 years, Dr. Romo III has dedicated his considerable talents to advancing microtia surgery — a corrective procedure that constructs ears for children born without them. He heads the world-renowned microtia team at North Shore/LIJ Lenox Hill Hospital and the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, working with both adults and children who come to see him from all over the world.

As a world-renowned innovator in techniques for Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Romo III recently completed the Silver Book Edition on Endoscopic Brow Lifting for Karl Storz. This beautifully illustrated booklet with the accompanying DVD demonstrates Dr. Romo's technique for minimally invasive cosmetic surgery of the forehead and upper face. This text is utilized worldwide to teach plastic surgeons Dr. Romo's approach to managing the aging upper face.

A new set of endoscopic brow and face lifting instruments designed by Dr. Romo for Karl Storz are also in worldwide distribution. Presently, Dr. Romo is designing a new set of rhinoplasty instruments for Karl Storz.

Additionally, Dr. Romo III published six new surgical techniques for rhinoplasty surgery in the latest editions of the periodical “Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery”. In this internationally recognized peer-reviewed journal, Dr. Romo describes his approach to primary reduction structured rhinoplasty that produces a more natural-looking nose with greater predictability for the long-term outcome. He also demonstrates his technique for revision rhinoplasty that shortens the healing time by limiting the morbidity of multiple donor graft sites. Dr. Romo illustrates a method for safer augmentation of the flatter, ethnic nose, which produces natural-looking noses on people of color, better fitting the race and the face of the individual. These innovative facial plastic surgical techniques are the culmination of more than twenty years of researching, designing, publishing, and teaching Facial Plastic Surgery procedures, nationally and internationally.
